Two days after the incident that alarmed the coaching staff, teammates, and club directors, midfielder Matheus Henrique has received a medical update from Cruzeiro. The club confirmed that the player sustained a lung contusion during the match against Bahia on Saturday (9) in the Brazilian Championship.
The athlete underwent further tests this Monday (11) in Belo Horizonte. The recommended treatment is rest until he fully recovers from the pain at the site of the trauma.
“Cruzeiro informs that athlete Matheus Henrique repeated the tests this Monday at Hospital Orizonti due to the trauma suffered in the match against Bahia last Saturday. The evaluations confirmed the diagnosis of a lung contusion. The indication for the case is rest until full recovery of the injury and the pain at the trauma site,” the club stated.
Details of the incident: Matheus Henrique collided with Everaldo at 47 minutes of the first half and immediately grabbed his chest. The Bahia forward received a yellow card. In the locker room, Matheus Henrique felt unwell and even spit blood. According to a report from Lance!, the player was taken to the hospital for a CT scan, but no fracture was identified.
